Dear Resident,
If you follow the news, you already know the global Novel
Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a major concern at this time. This virus
has spread worldwide with cases now on every continent except
Antarctica. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
announced last week that the virus is expected to have a larger
impact in the United States than it has to date.
On top of the coronavirus, the seasonal flu is also present in many
areas at this time. Basic measures remain the best defense against
coronavirus, flu and other communicable diseases.
The CDC has published the following about the basic prevention
measures for this virus:
LINK.
Per the CDC, “the best way to prevent infection is to avoid being
exposed to this virus. However, as a reminder, CDC always
recommends everyday preventive actions to help prevent the spread
of respiratory viruses, including:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20
seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based
hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed
hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue
in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and
surfaces.
These everyday habits can help prevent the spreads of many viruses
and other communicable diseases.
It is also important to keep yourself informed as new information
is released, and to follow the advice given by our health
organizations regarding prevention measures, school closures,
